coastal kitchen revival

For decades, this Mendocino coast kitchen turned its back on one of the most breathtaking views on the California coastline.

A wall that had no business being there blocked the sightline through to the living room——and beyond it, the ocean. We changed that.

By opening the space entirely, we restored the connection between the kitchen, the living room, and the world outside the windows. A large, welcoming island became the new heart of the home——equally suited to an intimate morning coffee or a dinner party that spills from room to room. Every detail was considered: custom millwork, clever inserts, a walk-in pantry, and a wine bar that doubles as a coffee station (because the best kitchens are designed for every hour of the day).

What had been a cookie-cutter space was given a new sense of soul from the ground-up and the ceiling-down. White-painted wood paneling overhead adds a layer of warmth and texture that feels at once rustic and refined, grounding the kitchen in its coastal surroundings while keeping the overall look clean, bright, and unmistakably elevated.

The result is a kitchen that feels as expansive and unhurried as the coastline it finally gets to see.
