harbor house guest bathroom renovation

Perched on the Mendocino coast and home to a 2 Michelin star restaurant, Harbor House is by any measure an extraordinary destination.

But over the years, the dissonance between the dated guest bathrooms and the world-class dining experience happening just steps away became ever more evident, even impacting online reviews. Something had to change.

Over the course of two years and two carefully considered phases, mendo style interiors reimagined nine guest bathrooms from the ground up——rethinking footprints, introducing artisan materials, and designing every detail in conversation with the breathtaking coastal views each room commands.

Phase 1 drew from the land——soft spa greens and warm whites, grounding and restorative. Phase 2 looked to the water——calm, sophisticated blues that mirror the vast Pacific beyond the windows. Across both phases, custom vanities, handmade California tile from a B Corp certified maker, and polished nickel fixtures throughout maintained an unwavering standard of quality and craftsmanship.

The goal was never simply to modernize. It was to honor the historic soul of this beloved inn while elevating the overnight guest experience to the level of excellence its Michelin-starred kitchen has always represented.
