STEM learning lab
The design for this North Berkeley maker space for kids required a vibrant, engaging environment within a small, narrow footprint.
The lab needed to accommodate kids, their parents, staff, and loads of innovative play stations, plus storage for science and art supplies. The shop’s proportions——long and narrow——made planning a challenge. Keeping the walls and flooring light and adding pops of color made it feel open and inviting, while easy-to-move furniture and smart storage solutions made the most out of tight quarters.
